In village Palnau of Tehsil Phillaur of Jalandhar, the Sarpanch tied the legs of a minor laborer and thrashed him badly by hanging him upside down. After the video of the incident went viral, the police arrested the accused Sarpanch Manveer, while raids are being conducted in search of his two accomplices.

Reason behind the incident

The only fault of the laborer was that he was a resident of a village in Bihar, where a person had absconded after taking 35 thousand rupees from the Sarpanch, Manveer Singh. He had given the money to laborer Amarjeet, resident of district Purnia (Bihar). But when Amarjeet ran away, Manveer made the footage of Amarjeet going on his bicycle viral so that he could get information about Amarjeet. When Manveer came to know that Mithlesh of Amarjit's village lives in Palnau, so he picked him up and took him to the farm of an acquaintance in Palakdim, a nearby village.

Both of Mithlesh's legs were tied together with a rope and hung from the tree upside down. Then, a video call was made to his parents. During the video call, Manveer was seen beating the young boy. When the family members saw this, they too began to cry. Manveer threatened that if he didn't receive the 35,000, he would kill him. Following that, the family members borrowed money to transfer the funds to Manveer's account. During the struggle, Mithlesh began to bleed from his ear, mouth, and nose. The police were then alerted as a result. The kid was taken to the hospital by the police for treatment. Following the altercation, Manveer and his group went to a room and partied with alcohol in celebration of receiving their money back.
