June 30 morning brought a gloomy day in the life of Mandira Bedi as her filmmaker husband Raj Kaushal (49) died of cardiac arrest.
The news of Raj’s death was shared by his close friend after which the condolences poured for the bereaved family from Bollywood.
At 11 am, Bedi’s deceased husband's body was taken for the last rites, and while on the way she broke the gender stereotypes.
Bereaved Mandira Bedi had carried the bier of her husband and has even performed the last rites. The video of Mandira carrying the bier went viral on social media in which she could be seen weeping.
On one side Mandira’s fans and friends were pouring in their condolences while others were lauding her to break age-old rules.
Traditionally, a woman is not allowed to touch or carry
the bier to the crematorium for the last rites. Thus, it was Mandira’s way to
bid adieu to her life partner.

Notably, Mandira and Raj tied the knot of marriage in 1999 and in 2011 the couple welcomed their first child. Later, the couple adopted a girl and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal.
Mandira and Raj first in 1996 at Mukul Anand’s residence and the love blossomed between them. Back then, Raj used to work as an assistant to Mukul.
Raj Kaushal had directed several commercials and films
including Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and Shaddi ka Laddoo.
