Tilak Nagar Metro Station in New Delhi is a very busy station. Thousands of people are at the station every day, hundreds of vehicles come and go, but there is one thing that has been constant. So much so, that it has now become the identity of the station. It is the sound of Raghunath's melodious flute.
Sitting at the same spot for 7 years now, this 46-year-old man, who lost his vision after three years of birth, plays 90s Bollywood songs on his flute.
Every day for the last 7 years, Raghunath and his wife have been coming to Gate No 3 of the Tilak Nagar Metro Station. Like a ritual, they put a small cloth on the ground which is sufficient to seat two people, right next to the entry gate of the station. The couple spends approximately six hours there every day. They come and start playing at the station at 3 pm daily and leave by 9 pm.
Raghunath's wife is his eyes. While he plays the flute, his wife takes care of other things, getting him tea from a nearby vendor to getting him food and collecting and keeping the money in a safe place are part of her duties.

Raghunath said that he fell in love with the musical instrument when he was still a child. He said, "Maine bansuri bajana bachpan main seekha tha. Jab main chhota tha, tabhi."
While talking about his vision, he said that he lost his eyesight when he was 3 years old. "Mujhe janam ke 3 saal baad dikhna band ho gaya tha." But he did not lose hope. The man with no vision became his own teacher. After he fell in love with his flute, Raghunath started listening to the radio and tried copying Bollywood songs on his favourite instrument.
He said, "Maine basuri bajana apne aap sikha. Kisi ne nai sikhaya mujhe, radio sun-sun ke seekha maine."
Raghunath and his wife moved to Delhi approximately 30 years ago and he has been playing his flute at the Tilak Nagar Metro Station for 7 years because he stays nearby.
