Even, after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab where new steps are being taken daily by the Punjab government to eradicate corruption, a policeman in Amritsar can be seen demanding bribe from a boy.
The Punjab Government has set up an Anti-Corruption Helpline so that people who are committing fraud against the law can lodge a complaint and take legal action against them. But now it is the people who are involved in the law who are flouting these laws. A recent video has gone viral on social media where a police officer is asking a young man for bribe.
According to sources, Amit Kumar, a young man from Delhi, shared the video and said that a Punjab police employee demanded Rs. 500 from him at Amritsar railway station. For some reason, his phone was with the policeman but when he asked for the phone back, the policeman demanded Rs.500. Meanwhile, the young man somehow made a video of the employee who blows up anti-corruption norms.
It may be recalled that the Punjab government had issued a helpline number on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas to crackdown on corruption. CM Mann has issued the Anti-Corruption Action line number 9501200200, on which the complainants can lodge their complaint by making an audio-video call or by sending a video-audio record in any way. Since then, action has been taken against several senior officials and complaints are being lodged against it.
