On Tuesday, an unimaginable incident happened in the government-run hospital in Odisha’s Angul district. At the hospital, a security guard administered the injection to the patient despite the presence of doctors and other paramedics in the hospital.
This incident was recorded by one of the relatives of the patient and now the video is viral on the internet. Reportedly, the patient had minor injuries as he met with an accident.

Soon the viral video caught the attention of higher authorities and the hospital was asked for an explanation. Assistant Chief Medical Superintendent Manas Ranjan Biswal responded and said that inquiry has been initiative and action would be taken. He was quoted saying, “We have initiated an inquiry into it and action will be taken after a probe. We will also go into details on who was in charge at the time of the incident.”
This is not for the first time, earlier as well such incidents of unprofessionalism and recklessness have been reported in the Odisha hospital.
Then, Additional Chief Secretary Health and Family Welfare department Pradeepta Kumar Mohapatra directed the hospitals in the state not to allow non-healthcare staff to treat patients or to assist the doctor while doing so.
