Royal Challenger’s Bangalore (RCB) will be squaring off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) eliminator match in Gujarat on Wednesday. In light of this, both the teams have arrived in Gujarat for their practice session. However, RCB cancelled their practice session at Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad without citing an official reason. They also did not hold any press conference, which is unusual to do before a crucial eliminator match. RR went on with their practice session.

Media reports suggest that the press conference and practice session before their knockout match against RR were cancelled due to a serious security threat to Virat Kohli. As per reports, the Gujarat Police had arrested 4 individuals from the Ahmedabad Airport on Monday over suspicions of terror activities. The police recovered weapons, suspicious videos and text messages from the arrested’s hideout.

The police shared this information with the IPL teams, RCB and RR, however while one acted, the other chose to go ahead with the scheduled practice. Police officials inform that Virat Kohli was made aware of the arrests on his arrival to Ahmedabad. RCB did not want to take any security risks, hence, they informed the police about their plan to cancel the practice session. RR was also informed, but they had no issues with continuing their practice.

As per reports, the police has strengthened the security around RCB’s hotel, with even IPL accredited personnel not being allowed entry. Even RR was provided with enhanced securit by the Gujarat police, Ravichandran Ashwin, Riyan Parag, and Yuzvendra Chahal decided to skip the practice session and stay at the hotel. The RR players present in the training were guarded by heavy security. 

RCB and RR will going head-to-head in an eliminator match on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
