Chandigarh Traffic Police on Monday released a traffic advisory for December 2 and December 3. In the advisory, Chandigarh Traffic Police announced diverted routes in 'The City Beautiful' keeping the VVIP movement in mind. For the unversed, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Chandigarh on December 2 while PM Modi will visit the UT on December 3 i.e. tomorrow.
Why is PM Modi visiting Chandigarh?
Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Punjab Engineering College (PEC) on Tuesday to attend an event. Hence, due to security measures, PM Modi's Chandigarh Visit will affect major roads such as Madhya Marg, which runs close to the college. The event at PEC will start at 11.30 am on Tuesday. This program will go on till 2 pm. After which the Prime Minister will leave for Delhi, but Union Home Minister Amit Shah will stay in Chandigarh and once again reach Punjab Raj Bhawan. In the Punjab Bhawan, HM Shah can hold discussions on the issues of Chandigarh and Punjab with Governor Kataria.
Chandigarh Traffic Advisory of December 2 and December 3
- On 2.12.2024 (today), traffic will be diverted/restricted on Dakshin Marg at Airport Light Point, Hallo Majra Light Point, Poultry Farm Chowk, Tribune Chowk, Iron Market Light Point, Gurudwara Chowk, New Labour Chowk (Sector 20/21-33/34); on Sarovar Path at Old Labour Chowk (Sector 18/19-20/21 Chowk), A.P. Chowk (Sector 7/8-18/19) and Hira Singh Chowk (Sector 5/6-7/8 Chowk) during the movemeht of the WIP. General public is requested to avoid the above stretch/road due to general WIP movement.
- Further, on 03.12.2024 (tomorrow), traffic will be diverted/restricted on Dakshin Marg at Airport Light Point, Hallo Majra Light Point, Poultry Farm Chowk, Tribune Chowk, Iron Market Light Point, Gurudwara Chowk, New Labour Chowk (Sector 20/21-33/34); on Sarovar Path at Old Labour Chowk (Sector 18/19-20/21 Chowk), A.P. Chowk (Sector 7/8-18/19) and Hira Singh Chowk (Sector 5/6-7/8 Chowk); on Vigyan Path at Sector 4/5-8/9 Chowk, New Barricade Chowk (Sector 3/4-9/10), Sector 2/3-10/11 Chowk and Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Light Point during the movement of the VVIP. General public is requested to avoid the above sch/road from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Further, traffic movement may be restricted/diverted on certain road stretches in view of WIP visits.
It is pertinent to mention here that the local administration has already declared Chandigarh as a No-Fly Zone for two days i.e. December 2 and 3. Under this no UAVs or drones will be allowed to fly in the Union Territory.
