Wake up from slumber, mitigate Covid challenges: IMA to Health Ministry

IMA mentioned this refusal of implementing lockdown is the reason that India is reporting around four lakh new coronavirus cases daily.

The Indian Medical Association slammed the Union Health Ministry for its delayed and inappropriate actions in combating the coronavirus pandemic. Lashing out on health ministry, IMA said that it is “astonished to see the extreme lethargy and inappropriate actions from the department to fight the disastrous second wave of Covid19.

The IMA said that the health ministry ignored the collective consciousness, proactive cognizance, and requests made by the IMA and other professionals. The association accused the ministry of putting all suggestions and requests into ‘dustbin’ and taking decisions without realizing the ground realities.”

IMA is a national voluntary organization of Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine in India. The association also mentioned lockdown as the way to solve this problem. IMA said, “Lockdown will break the chain of devastating spread.”

The Central government has refused to impose the lockdown. IMA mentioned this refusal of implementing lockdown is the reason that India is reporting around four lakh new coronavirus cases daily. IMA also said, “Sporadic night curfews have not done any good. Life is precious than the economy.” 

“Wake up from slumber and respond to mitigate the growing challenges in the covid pandemic,” added IMA.

Expressing its disappointment in the Central Government IMA added, “It is unfortunate, the ministry has failed to make the necessary required roadmap and ensure vaccine stock, resulting in the majority of the places where vaccination could be rolled out for people above 18 years.”
