Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday lambasted the PM Modi-led Central Government over the arrest of AAP Supremo & Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. ED on Thursday night arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged liquor policy scam. ED raided Arvind Kejriwal's home late night and after a questioning of 2 hours, the Delhi CM was arrested. Arvind Kejriwal's arrest took place hours after Delhi High Court refused to give him an interim protection from arrest. After the arrest of former Telangana CM KCR's daughter K Kavitha, ED intensified action against the Delhi CM in the alleged liquor policy case. Following his arrest, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann rushed to Delhi to meet Kejriwal's family and during the press conference he compared Prime Minister Modi to Russian Preisdent Vladimir Putin. Below is what Punjab CM Mann said-
"BJP indulges in the maximum hate speech in the country... They have stopped the funds of the National Health Mission for AAP's Mohalla clinics... How dare they stop Punjab's tableau and celebrate Republic Day with Punjab's participation... If it was in their control, they would remove the name of Punjab from the National Anthem... They want no opposition leaders to be able to campaign for the upcoming elections... He is walking in the footsteps of Vladimir Putin. This is a dictatorship."
For the unversed, ED has claimed, "By acts of corruption and conspiracy… a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickbacks from the wholesalers was generated for AAP. Further, and her associates were to recover the proceeds of crime paid in advance to AAP and to further generate profits/proceeds of crime from this entire conspiracy."
Presenting Arvind Kejriwal to court, ED stated that the Delhi CM was directly involved in the formation of the excise policy. ED further said that the CM Kejriwal is the key conspirator and kingpin in demanding kickbacks from liquor businessmen, alleges the Enforcement Directorate while seeking the CM's 10-day custody remand.
