Shame! Ward boy arrested for attempting to rape corona positive woman in Gwalior

A ward was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 59 years old woman who had tested positive for coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on April 16, Sunday evening at a private hospital under Kampoo thana.

The woman was admitted after testing positive for coronavirus and was on oxygen support. On Saturday, April 17 the ward boy, Vivek Lodhi molested the lady multiple times. After the woman complained about it and called her family he fled the scene.

The family of the victim has accused hospital management saying that they did not take any action on the ward boy and started assaulting the family members. Brother-in-law of the victim said, “My niece’s treatment was also stopped by the hospital.” The son of the victim also accused hospital staff saying that they helped the ward boy to flee away.

Hitika Vasal, Additional SP of Gwalior, said that the ward boy, Vivek Lodhi has been arrested. The family member also accused the police of delaying the FIR. Now, the ward boy is booked and the case is registered under sections 376 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code.

The coronavirus pandemic has also initiated another pandemic against women's safety. According to reports, violence and crime against women have increased rapidly during the coronavirus pandemic worldwide. India is recording horrifying numbers of cases of molestation of Covid patients along with a drastically increasing number of coronavirus cases.

Besides, the health system in the country has collapsed due to the shortage of beds, oxygen, and ventilators.
