A terrible incident was reported from Bhopal, where a car that was racing backwards rammed into a crowd in Bhopal during the immersion of a Durga idol. 

A youth and a child have sustained injuries, while the accused has been arrested, police said. 

The incident took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday near a railway station at the Bajaria crossing.  

The incident has been recorded on a camera, where the speeding grey coloured car is seen racing backwards and running over the crowd that had gathered for the Durga idol immersion. There were two to three people seated inside the vehicle.

The accused has been arrested and the car has been seized, informed Irshad Wali, DIG, Bhopal Range. 
 
“The person who was injured in this incident was admitted to a local hospital. As per the doctors, his condition is stable. The car driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized. Further investigation is underway,”  said DIG Bhopal. 

The youth who suffered injuries in the incident has been shifted to a hospital and is in a stable condition now. 

The investigation has already begun in the matter and the police is scanning the CCTV footage to the number of the vehicle.

In a similar incident, a speeding car mowed down people on the way during Durga idol immersion in Pathalgaon in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district, killing one person and ramming over 20 people. The two people having a connection with the car have been arrested and 17 injured are getting treated at two hospitals.
