Agartala: A public advisory was issued for city dwellers by Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) administration not to drink municipal supplied pipe water without boiling, for the next few days following detection of the presence of bacterial infection in the water sample collected from a few locations.
The contamination in water supply line was revealed when Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) authority reported as many as 120 cases of diarrhoea from Shibnagar area of the city in last six days and pathological investigation of the patient indicated water contamination as the cause of stomach problem.
Minister for Health and Drinking Water and Sanitation, Sudip Roy Barman said that drinking water and sanitation department had examined the water samples from three different locations of the city and found bacterial infection in the end point of supply line in Shibnagar.
