To eliminate contaminated drinking water in rural areas, water supply and sanitation department has connected as many as 80 houses with functional tap water connections in village Kureshia of block Bhogpur.
Lauding the Captain government's efforts 52-years old Sarpanch Baljinder Kaur said that the project has proved a boon for the village as now people are able to get clean drinking water.
Similarly, Rajinder Bains (50) said that earlier there was a foul smell in the drinking water and people would occasionally complain about stomach issues but now they are getting pure drinking water in their houses.
Divulging more block coordinator Rajinder Kaur said that the functional tap water connection was launched at a cost Rs. 20 Lakh and a total of 80 houses have been connected with tap connections. She added that earlier electric motors placed at 50 feet depth were used to get drinking water adding now people are getting clean drinking water supply for 12 hours.
Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that under Har Ghar Pani Har Ghar Safai program as many as 17 water supply schemes worth Rs.712.26 Crore were dedicated in the district besides inaguration of 18 new schemes at a cost of Rs. 767.33 Crore. He mentioned that these schemes would benefit a total of 43932 people in the district. The new schemes would be executed with the current year.
The deputy commissioner further said that administration has already dedicated five water supply schemes worth Rs. 125.73 Lakh in the district.
