India's Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu finally posted for the first time after bringing the Miss Universe title back home after 21 years. In her post, the Chandigarh girl thanked the people in
her life who helped her achieve the historic victory.
Harnaaz shared photos from her first official portrait as Miss Universe 2021 on Instagram and penned a note expressing her gratitude to everyone in her life who helped her win.
The beauty queen started her note with "Wahe Guri Ji Da Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Di Fateh," and asserted, “we did it.”
"I said in my final answer, that I believed in myself and that’s why I was on that stage. I also want to mention a few people who believed in me too," the post read.
Harnaaz thanked her family and close friends "who have been there with me no matter what. They have seen me fall and get up and they have been there supporting me throughout."
She also thanked her "driving force" for "having the faith in me that I could represent India internationally."
"Thank you to my panellists and designers who put together the woman who won the crown for India today."
"Lastly thank you to everyone who has showered me with so much love. I’m overwhelmed," she ended.
Harnaaz won the 70th Miss Universe beauty pageant hosted in Israel, finally bringing back the title home after 21 years. Before Harnaaz, only two Indian beauties have clinched the crown
– Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
Andrea Meza of Mexico, Miss Universe 2020, crowned Harnaaz at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel.
Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen also congratulated Harnaaz Sandhu.
