Parents want schools to arrange extra classes to cover students' loss during Covid lockdown

As per the Observer Research Foundation, close to 250 million children in India were adversely affected due to school closures and early lockdowns imposed by the government in response to Covid-19.

Mona Passy, a parent says, "We really want that schools should open in the month of June this year to compensate the loss."

 She further says, online classes on mobile phones is affecting the eyes of the children badly. And this option was suitable only till Covid cases were on peak."

 She said son was also not doing well in his studies. That's why we wanted schools to open." 

Raminder Kaur a teacher says,"

Classroom teaching enhances students’ critical thinking skills. Classroom studying provides an opportunity for students to engage in live discussions where they can better utilise their critical thinking skills to voice opinions or involve in an argument."

She adds, "but children are now showcasing withdrawal symptoms at school. Perhaps it is time that we allocate more time for activity-based learning methods at school. Students won't be interested in going to school if there is just one period for practical learning over the whole week."

She said, June-July can be utilized for such things. This would be great learning and engaging process for students.


A JEE aspirant Shreya Sharma says,

 "Teachers always  put in a lot of effort which enables students to outperform in such tough examinations. 
We have lost our crucial time in Pandemic and resources are also limited for Tution classes, so we want Schools to provide extra classes for such examinations in the month of June and July."


Sunil Ahuja, a father, whose son studies in class VII says, "My son showcased a lack of concentration during online classes but now he makes extra effort and even attends remedial classes so that he completes his day-to-day activities adding ", Therefore I want Schools to spend some extra time in taking classes."



Another parent said, "If public and private sector organizations worked together with the government of India to adopt new ways of teaching and learning and ensure that all students have access to the related tools and infrastructure, India would empower future generations for better livelihoods and fulfilling lives.
