The weather in Punjab is all set to witness changes in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected across various parts of the state over the next one to two days. A yellow alert has been issued for the same. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for dense fog on 12th and 13th. During these days, heavy fog cover will lead to reduced visibility.
Over the past two days, fog has cleared by midday and allowed sunshine to raise temperatures slightly. However, with rain in the weather forecast, temperatures are likely to drop further.
Currently, most regions in Punjab are experiencing maximum temperatures around 17°C and minimum temperatures near 5°C, which are typical for this time of year. Previously, an orange alert was issued due to dense fog on 2nd January and a yellow alert for 3rd January.
The Head of the Meteorology Department at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Dr. Pavneet Kaur Kangra, has emphasized on the need for caution during this period. She has warned that dense fog is expected to severely affect visibility, urging commuters to exercise care while traveling, especially on 12th and 13th January.
Additionally, she urged everyone to stay protected from the cold by covering themselves adequately when going outdoors. Morning and evening walks should be avoided for the time being.
People are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this time. In order to stay safe, people are encouraged to wear warm clothing when stepping out.
