In light of the scorching heat, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in the state till May 29. After this, Western Disturbance is expected to become active.
According to the information released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the effect of Nautapa will be seen in Punjab for two more days. During this period, a slight increase in temperature may be seen. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Bathinda, Punjab has been recorded at 48.4 °C, which is 0.7 °C more than the temperature of May 21, 1978. On the said date, the maximum temperature of Punjab was recorded at 47.7 °C in Amritsar.
At the same time, after Bathinda, the highest temperature in Pathankot was 47.1 °C, followed by Firozpur at 45.7 °C, Faridkot at 45.6 °C and Amritsar at 45.4 °C.
