He further said, 'He was leading an illegal protest. He did not have permission. It is wrong for any group, organization to protest illegally at night."

Now, the question arises as to why students are protesting against BPSC Normalization? Below is what you need to know-

What is BPSC Normalization?

Students who are preparing for Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examinations have demanded to repeal the BPSC Normalization. The protest is due to the potential implementation of a normalization process for the upcoming 70th BPSC Preliminary Examination, scheduled for December 13, 2024. Bihar Public Service Commission Chairman Parmar Ravi Manu Bhai was quoted by Dainik Bhasker saying, "Normalization will be implemented in BPSC 71st examination. It is being considered." He also said that candidates should not be misled by anyone.

In the BPSC Normalization the provisions of exams and marking are different. For instance, when the number of candidates is high, the exam is held in two shifts or more than one day. Different question sets are given in each exam. If the average marks of the candidates are low in the first exam or the number of attempts is also less, then such papers are considered tough. In this, the average marks of the candidates will decrease. On the other hand, if the average marks of the candidates are high in the second shift or the number of attempts is more, then such papers are considered easy. In this case, the average marks of the candidates increase. The final result will be based on their average marks.

Patna Students Protest

In Patna, BPSC candidates demonstrated outside the BPSC office against normalization. Thousands of candidates had reached outside the commission office in protest against normalization in the 70th Civil Services Examination. The police asked the candidates to leave from there, but the candidates did not agree. After that the police lathicharged.

The police chased and beat the candidates on the road. In the lathicharge, one student's head got fractured and one's leg got broken. After being detained by the Police for an hour, Khan Sir was released from custody. He was quoted saying, "We are protesting peacefully. We will leave from here only after normalization is over. We will not leave until the notification is issued."

DSP Secretariat Anu Kumari while talking to the media said, "On the morning of December 7, 2024, a misleading, factually incorrect, and provocative post was shared on the social media platform Twitter (X) from an account named Khan Global Studies, demanding the release of Khan Sir....Patna Police would like to clarify that Khan Sir has not been arrested. The claims made in the aforementioned post are false and inflammatory."
