For the unversed, Maleesa Mooney's dead body was found inside the refrigerator in her downtown Los Angeles apartment on September 12. Maleesa Mooney, the 31-year-old LA model, was reportedly last seen on CCTV at her apartment on September 6. On September 12, officials went to visit her apartment after her mother requested a welfare check.
As per US media reports, Maleesa Mooney's family suspected something might be wrong when iPhone text conversations with her changed from blue to green, alerting them to the fact that there was a change in Wi-Fi and data services. "When a week went by, we just knew something was off,' Bailey Babb, her cousin was quoted saying adding, "Her messages weren't delivering and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa."

Maleesa Mooney's autopsy was recently completed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Maleesa Mooney postmortem report states that the LA model's cause of death is 'homicidal violence.' Maleesa Mooney had been beaten and bound before being stuffed into her own refrigerator, according to the autopsy.
As per reports, the autopsy stated, "The blunt force traumatic injuries observed at autopsy are generally not considered acutely life-threatening on their own..However, based on the circumstances of how Ms. Mooney was found, these injuries suggest she was likely involved in violence physical altercation prior to her death." Therefore, it is "uncertain" what role drugs or alcohol may have played in her death, if any, the report reads.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mooney was pregnant when her body was found inside a refrigerator. The American authorities have made no arrests in the case till now. For those who are unaware, Maleesa Mooney was found deceased two days after another model in the downtown L.A. area was found deceased in her apartment. Despite similarities in the two cases, the US police reportedly said they are not related.
