Amsterdam Violence, Amsterdam Israeli Football Fans, Amsterdam Israel Attack: In a bizarre development, the Israeli government came into action after Jews were attacked in the Netherlands recently. Multiple shocking videos and photos are going viral on social media in which Israeli football fans are said to have been assaulted in the Dutch city. Many are also labeling Amsterdam Violence as 'antisemitic attacks'. As per reports, Jewish football fans were targeted and attacked in Amsterdam. Many Israelis have been injured in this.
Amsterdam police said on Friday that anti-Semitic rioters attacked Israeli supporters after the football match, after which 5 people were injured. They were admitted to the hospital by the police. At least 62 people have been arrested after the game as pro-Palestinian demonstrators tried to reach the Johan Cruyff stadium, even though the city had forbidden them to protest there.
After the incident, the police said in a post on 'X' that it had started investigating different incidents of violence. However, the police did not give detailed information about the people injured and those taken into custody in the violence that took place on Thursday night. Earlier, a statement issued by the Amsterdam Municipality, Police and Prosecution Office said that the Europa League match played between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv teams was "very disruptive, in which many incidents of violence were targeted at Maccabi supporters."
Former Israeli PM Neftali Bennet took to his X handle and wrote, "Urgent call for action! I am receiving videos and evidence of Israeli sports-tourists in Amsterdam being brutally attacked. What I see seems to be life-threatening: innocent people being run-over, beaten, driven into a river and more. I call on the Dutch authorities to act immediately to prevent injuries and worse."
In another post, Bennet wrote, "This seems like a PLANNED and ORGANIZED POGROM in Amsterdam."
As per AP, Israel's National Security Ministry has also urged its citizens in the Dutch city to stay in their hotel rooms following the attacks. The Israeli military said it is preparing to immediately deploy a rescue mission with the coordination of the Dutch government after the football game, in which Ajax Amsterdam, traditionally identified as a Jewish club, defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 5-0.
