What is happening in Canada, Bampton Temple Attack, Brampton Temple Attack Timeline: All is not well in Canada ever since a Pro Khalistan mob attacked Hindu devotees outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton. Pro-Khalistan elements and Hindus are at loggerheads in Canada following the incident. Social media is filled with videos of protests of both the Hindu community and Pro Khalistan elements. While Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has emphasized that not all Pro-Khalistan elements represent Sikhs and not all Hindu Canadians are Modi supporters, communal tensions in Canada continue to prevail. Below is a timeline of what happened after the Brampton Temple Attack- 

Brampton Temple Attack and events that took place after it- A Timeline

November 3, 2024: A mob carrying flags associated with pro-Khalistani groups attacked Hindus outside Brampton Temple. The Hindu Canadian Foundation, a non-profit community organisation, which responded on social media, said children and women were also attacked in the incident. Multiple reports suggest that a group of Khalistani supporters were holding a demonstration to commemorate the 1984 anti-Sikh riots before the attack took place. 

November 4, 2024: On Monday, three Hindus were detained 'without incident' on the grounds of a local temple at Surrey in British Columbia, Canada, triggering an atmosphere of tension in the community. Canadian authorities did not disclose the charges against them. The incident took place after local residents had gathered to celebrate and worship at the temple. As per the witnesses present there quoted by Canadian and Indian media, the police presence around was temple was heightened as the officers moved in to detain the three young men. 

November 4, 2024: India's PM, Narendra Modi took to his X handle and condemned the violence that took place outside the Brampton Temple. 

November 5, 2024:Thousands of Canadian Hindus marched in solidarity outside the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton a day after it was attacked by pro-Khalistani mob. The march on Monday night was organised by the Coalition of Hindus in North America (CoHNA).

November 5, 2024: A Canadian Police officer was also suspended after his video went viral participating in a pro-Khalistan protest outside Brampton Temple. 

November 6, 2024: Peel Police arrested Ron Banerjee after his speech went viral during a protest in which he called for storming Gurdwaras over a loudspeaker at the November 4th protest. 

November 8, 2024: After being called out on social media for not mentioning Pro Khalistan protestors in his tweet, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, for the first time, said that Khalistani separatists do not represent the Sikh community in Canada. Trudeau made this remark during an event in Ottawa’s Parliament Hill to celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas. That Diwali event was organised by Cabinet Ministers Anita Anand and Gary Anandasangaree. Trudeau also said that not all Hindu-Canadians are Modi supporters. 

November 10, 2024: On Sunday, it was reported that Khalistani extremist Arshdeep Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla, who was designated a terrorist by India, may have been arrested in Canada's Ontario province following a shooting incident. The incident took place on October 28 in Milton.

November 11, 2024: The principal organizer of the Khalistan referendum in Canada was arrested and charged in connection with the violent attack on a Hindu temple in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) last Sunday. The news broke on November 12, 2024. 

November 12, 2024: After the Brampton Temple attack, the Brampton Triveni Community Centre in Canada cancelled its planned life certificate event by the Indian Consulate, citing concerns over a possible 'extremely high and imminent threat level of violent protests". The event was scheduled to take place on November 17 in which the consular camp was set to offer Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs a chance to renew essential life certificates.
