Amidst the severe hot weather conditions especially in India, the Earth is all braced up to face the wrath of the Sun in the form of Geomagnetic solar storm. As per reports, the Sun which is now in its 11th solar cycle has exploded again with a Coronal Mass ejection pushing plasma and high-intensity energy towards the inner planets. The coronal mass ejection is likely to hit Earth on Wednesday and Thursday.

As per NASA and NOAA a halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was spotted racing towards the Earth. The two agencies said that the resultant geomagnetic storm will hit Earth on Thursday (April 14). Not only these two agencies but the Centre of Excellence in Space Sciences India also alerted that a halo coronal mass ejection was detected from the Sun, which could lead to space weather conditions. Furthermore it was revealed that the CME could hit Earth with a speed of nearly 20,69,834 kilometers per hour.

What is Geomagnetic Solarstorm?

Those who are still wondering and curious to know about Geomagnetic solarstorm can read further. Coronal Mass Ejection (CMEs) typically take several days to arrive on Earth but have been observed, for some of the most intense storms, to arrive in as short as 18 hours. When a CME hits Earth's magnetic field, it causes a major disturbance of Earth's magnetosphere due to the very efficient exchange of energy from the solar wind into the space environment surrounding Earth. This is called a geomagnetic storm.

Geomagnetic Solarstorm impact on Earth

Now the question arises on Geomagnetic Solarstrom impacts on Earth. As per report, the Geomagnetic storm that is expected to the Earth today is not that strong but it will surely have some consequences. Geomagnetic solarstorm impact on Earth will cause e damage to satellites, disrupt GPS, mobile phone networks, internet connectivity and power grid failure. Voltage fluctuations can also take place, resulting in damaging electrical appliances. Those who are wondering Geomagnetic Solarstorm impact on Humans need not to worry. As per the scientists,  the harmful ultraviolet, infrared and gamma radiation are all absorbed by the atmosphere and humans do not have any direct threat.
