Australia tour of India 2023 is turning out to be a nightmare for the visitors, as the former number 1 test bowler Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the upcoming 3rd Test against India. Pat Cummins flew to Australia citing personal reasons, however, Cricket Australia had assured the team that he will be back to lead the team against India in the third test. At first, cricketing fans around the world were curious to know what actually happened to Pat Cummins? Now, Australian skipper Pat Cummins has finally broken his silence over his decision to return to his country. Fox quoted the Australian captain who stated that his mother is ill and therefore he cannot go to India to play the third Test.

“I have decided against returning to India at this time as my mother is ill and palliative care,” Cummins said in a statement adding, "I feel I am best being here with my family...I appreciate the overwhelming support I have received from Cricket Australia and my teammates. Thanks for your understanding."

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients (adults and children) and their families who are facing problems associated with life-threatening illness.

Steve Smith to lead Australia

India vs Australia: Pat Cummins ruled out of 3rd Test due to personal reason, new captain announced

Cricket Australia announced that Steve Smith will lead Australia in the 3rd Test against India as the stand-in captain. The third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is to be played between India and Australia next month. The match is scheduled to be held from 1 to 5 March 2023 and it will start at 9:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) on 1 March. Both the teams- India and Australia will face each other at the Holkar Stadium, Indore. The venue for the 3rd Test was changed recently from HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala since the area is still experiencing harsh winter conditions. India won the first two matches by an inning and 132 runs in the first Test and by 6 wickets in the second test. The 4th and last game will be played in Ahmedabad from 9 to 13 March 2023.
