Multiple health experts have warned Indian women who regularly wear tight sarees. A study published in BMJ Case Reports has highlighted the case of two women who are suffering from Petticoat Cancer. One woman is 70-years-old and the other one is 60-years-old. Both the cases have been linked to Petticoat Cancer. What is Petticoat Cancer?
Also known as Saree Cancer, the study suggested that Petticoat Cancer happens in women who wear their petticoat’s thread too tight on the waist. As per Odisha Bytes Report, when the Petticoat cord is fastened constantly at the same level in the abdomen, it can lead to dermatoses (skin irritation), which can become ulcers. The ulcers that are caused due to this are known as Marjolin’s ulcers. Marjolin’s ulcers in very rare cases are malignancy. In layman's language, the continuous pressure causes repeated skin inflammation may lead to ulceration over time, and, in severe cases, cause skin cancer.
Petticoat Cancer Symptoms
HT quoted an oncologist who revealed Petticoat Cancer symptoms. If the thread of your petticoat is causing prolonged irritation, then you must consult a cancer expert or a doctor. The irritation generally occurs in the hot and humid climate of India. Women in rural areas are affected mostly by it, according to the report. The report quoted a Doctor who said, that sweat and dust accumulate around the tightly tied cord causing itching and scratching. Women in rural areas most of the time do not pay attention to Petticoat Cancer Early symptoms. Petticoat Cancer reportedly includes pigmentation as well as mild scale signs.
Petticoat Cancer Prevention
It is said that prevention is better than cure. Hence, there are common steps that can be followed to prevent yourself from getting afflicted with Petticoat Cancer or Saree cancer. For instance, avoid wearing tight petticoats. Another preventive measure is that you should keep changing the waistline where you tie your petticoat. When you are at home, then a regular and baggy trouser can be worn. This helps in air circulation and reduces the risk of Petticoat Cancer.
