According to the latest Statista report by the World Economic Forum, based on the opinions of 1,490 experts from academia, business, government, the international community, and civil society, collected between September 4 and October 9, 2023, India ranked at the top of the list. The report ranked countries such as the USA and Pakistan between 4th and 6th place, while Brazil and Russia were in the 7th to 10th range. Other countries, including Canada, were ranked between 11th and 15th.

The other countries such as Brazil, the United States, Pakistan, Russia, and Canada, that are ranked on the list are alleged of running widespread misinformation campaigns that are often state-sponsored or politically motivated. These countries share a disturbing trend where the political parties and the state actors increasingly control and influence the narratives which plays a key role in amplifying falsehoods.
Among the African ethnicity, Brazil comes on the topmost level in matters of misinformation and disinformation. In the case of the United States, The growing influence of Misinformation on its political landscape was witnessed particularly during the 2020 elections where the false claims of widespread election were propagated which ultimately led to the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
