What does the report reveal?
The report from the Centre of Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) at the National Dairy Development Board in Gujarat, reveals that the ghee used in the Tirupati laddu contained traces of beef tallow, fish oil and lard, which is a semi-solid white fat extracted from pig.
According to the lab report, lard (clarified pig fat), tallow (beef fat), fish oil, fat from coconut, linseed, rapeseed and cottonseed were found in the ghee used to make the Tirupati laddu. This analysis happened on 23rd July, when the government received complaints about the changed taste of the laddus.
Nara Lokesh, the Andhra Pradesh minister and son of CM Chandrababu Naidu, has shared a video of his father on X. In the video, Chandrababu Naidu said, “The Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala is our most sacred temple. I am shocked to learn that the Y. S. Jagan administration used animal fat instead of ghee in the Tirupati Prasadam.”
VHP national spokesperson, Vinod Bansal said, “Everybody knows about the anti-Hindu acts and deeds of the previous YSR government in Andhra Pradesh, but nobody could have expected it to stoop to this level. This is a very serious issue, raised by none other than Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. Punish those who used animal fat in Tirupati laddu Prasadam.”
