In a major development, an Indian Army officer - Captain Deepak Singh - was martyred on Wednesday after an encounter with a group of four terrorists - in the Assar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. A civilian was also injured. An op has been launched to capture the terrorists, one of whom was wounded. As per reports, 4 terrorists are also reported to have been killed in the encounter. While the Indian Army continues to hunt for terrorists, condolence messages have poured in for Captain Deepak Singh. Now, the question arises who was Captain Deepak Singh martyred in Doda encounter? Who was Captain Deepak Singh?
As per the Indian Army, martyr Captain Deepak Singh is from 48 Rashtriya Rifle. He was leading the team in the encounter going on in Asar Forest Area in Doda. As of now, not much information is available regarding Captain Deepak Singh's age and personal life. On July 16 also, 5 soldiers including Captain were martyred during an encounter in the Desa area of Doda.
According to the Army, the encounter is still going on. The terrorists are hiding near a river in the forest and firing. In the morning, they ran back during the firing. From there, the soldiers have found an American M-4 rifle and explosives in three bags.
The Defense Minister called a meeting in Delhi regarding the increasing terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. NSA Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and heads of other security agencies attended it. Information about the meeting has not been revealed.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second attack in 30 days in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier on July 15 at 9 pm, the army had an encounter with terrorists in the Dessa forest area. In this encounter, 4 soldiers including an army captain were martyred. A policeman also died. The terrorist organization Jaish had taken responsibility for this encounter.
