Who is American Idol Season 21 winner Iam Tongi?
As per American media reports, Iam Tongi has Hawaiian roots. Tongi and his family moved from Kahuku, a town in O’ahu, Hawaii, to Seattle due to the rising costs of living on the island. During the American Idol 21 auditions, Tongi was asked the same that why he and his family left beautiful Hawaii and settled in Seattle. Tongi has then informed that he and his family had to move as Hawaii's “priced out of paradise,” and had to move somewhere more affordable. Coming to his education, the eighteen-year-old Tongi is a senior at Decatur High School. It is pertinent to mention here that this wasn't Tongi's first appearance at American Idol. He auditioned once before with his father by his side but was not selected for the next round.
As per American media reports, Tongi went into American Idol 21 auditions with an Instagram following of 8,000. Within two days of his performance, his follower skyrocketed to more than 120,000 and has since crossed the 155,000 threshold. As of now, Tongi's followers count is 546K. Apart from this, Tongi is also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had shared his faith on social media. In April, he cited the quote “the best is yet to come” from President Russell M. Nelson’s talk in general conference.
