Who is Joseph O’Connor?
Joseph O’Connor is a 24-year-old British hacker, who split his time between Liverpool and Spain but was extradited to the US in April after spending time in a Malaga prison. Recently, Joseph O’Connor came in the spotlight when he wrote a mercy letter insisting that he ‘couldn’t believe what he’d done was even a serious crime’ and added that although he’s now ‘grasped’ the seriousness of his offences, he’s ‘still in disbelief as to how he ended up in court’.

The hacker further said, "I ate myself fat with unhealthy processed unhealthy foods. I developed a back injury, all due to sitting in a chair for 18 hours a day. I never exercised," adding, "My eyes could not tolerate the sunshine if I opened the blinds." For those who are unaware, O’Connor also faced charges connected to the hacking of more than 100 Twitter accounts, including ones belonging to Joe Biden, Elon Musk and Kanye West. However, US media quoted his lawyers who stated that his role was merely ‘peripheral’, arguing he was contacted by ‘actual’ hackers about purchasing a compromised account, something he didn’t end up proceeding with.
Coming back to Bella Thorne leaked pics row, prosecutors alleged that O’Connor was able to get access to Thorne’s Snapchat and phone in June 2019 and got his hands on ‘numerous nude photographs and videos’ which he shared with ‘associates’.
