Two of the five passengers aboard a submersible vessel that went missing while attempting to reach the Titanic are members of one of Pakistan's richest families. As per reports, Shahzada Dawood, a British-Pakistani multi-millionaire, and his 19-year-old son Suleman are aboard the submersible. Rescue crews are currently trying to locate the vessel — which is reportedly running out of oxygen. Who is Shahzada Dawood?
Shahzada Dawood is a Pakistani-British businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He currently serves as vice-chairman of Engro Corporation since 2003, Director of Dawood Hercules Corporation where he served as vice-chairman from 2018 to 2022, a board member of Prince Charles' Charity, a board member of the SETI Institute, and a trustee of The Dawood Foundation. He and his father Hussain Dawood, the chairman of the Dawood Hercules Corporation and Engro Corporation, are among the richest people in Pakistan. He is married to Christine Dawood, a psychologist and life coach, with whom he shares two children, Suleman and Alina. Shahzada studied in both the United States and the United Kingdom, holding an M.Sc. in Global Textile Marketing from Philadelphia University, USA, and an LLB from Buckingham University, UK.
His son Suleman, who also went missing with the tycoon, is a student in London who enjoys science fiction literature and volleyball. The father-son duo journeyed for one month from their London residence to Canada before going into the Titan Submersible. They paid $250,000 per head to explore the remains of the Titanic ship that sank in 1912.
