Tamsin Egerton was born on 26 November 1988 in Surrey, England to Michael Dick and wife Nicola Egerton. Her birth name is Tamsin Olivia Egerton-Dick. She kickstarted her acting career at the tender age of six, following the footsteps of her older sister Sophia in a local youth theatre. She stated that "The whole reason I'm acting now is because I wanted to be doing what my big sister was doing". A year later, she acted in a Royal Shakespeare Company musical production of The Secret Garden, essaying the role of Mary.
