Ex-MLA Jagbir Singh Brar is likely to join Bharatiya Janta Party on Monday in the presence of Sunil Jakhar. Jagbir Singh Brar was earlier a member of Shiromani Akali Dal. The election he contested was in the year 2022 which he lost against Congress MLA Pargat Singh.
Who is Jagbir Singh Brar?
Jagbir Singh Brar is an Indian politician who contests for elections from Punjab. He is originally from Sri Muktsar Sahib however, currently resides in Jalandhar. Brar was earlier a member of Congress, then he joined Shiromani Akali Dal and in 2023 he joined Aam Aadmi Party. Lastly some days before the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, Brar joined the Bharatiya Janta Party. Talking about his political career Jagbir Singh Brar first contested from Jalandhar Cantt from SAD and won the seat. However, later he went on to join Congress. In 2022, Olympian Pargat Singh was nominated from his constituency for elections which made him upset. For the same, he returned to SAD. In the year 2023, Brar joined AAP ahead of Jalandhar by-poll.
Talking about Jagbir Singh Brar’s personal life he was born in Sri Muktsar Sahib and completed his schooling from the same place. Later, for higher studies, Brar moved to Patiala and practised law. He was earlier a BDPO before joining politics. Apart from this, Brar has also been the President of DCC Jalandhar and served as Block Development Panchayat Officer. Jagbir Brar is a close relative of Manpreet Singh Badal and the estranged nephew of Prakash Singh Badal.
