Recently, Konda Surekha Garu, a Telangana minister, has sparked controversies by delivering a controversial statement on Indian actress Samantha’s divorce with actor Naga Chaitanya. She has blamed BRS leader KT Rama Rao for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. She said, “KTR was the reason behind the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha.”
These statements made by Konda Surekha has been extremely criticized by everyone. Samantha and Naga Chaitanya have reacted to the ‘ridiculous’ statement made by her. Naga Chaitanya said, “Today, the claim made by Minister Konda Surekha Garu is not only false, it is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve to be supported and respected. Taking advantage and exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful.”
Who is Konda Surekha Garu?
Konda Surekha Garu is a 59-years-old Indian politician who is currently posted as the Cabinet Minister for Forest and Environment, and Endowments in the Government of Telangana. Surekha is the member of Indian National Congress party. She was born in Warangal. She got married to Konda Murali, an ex-MLC and a Congress leader from Warangal district. They have a daughter.
She is the representative of Warangal East assembly constituency in the Telangana Legislative assembly. Previously she had represented Shyampeta and Parakala constituencies in the Telangana legislative assembly.
Responding to her controversial statements, actress Samantha said, “I hope you realise that your words carry significant weight as a minister. I implore you to be responsible and respectful of individuals' privacy. My divorce is a personal matter, and I request that you refrain from speculating about it. Our choice to keep things private doesn't invite misrepresentation. To clarify: my divorce was mutual consent and amicable, with no political conspiracy involved.”
Naga Chaitanya’s father Nagarjuna slammed her statement on X. He wrote, “I strongly condemn the comments of the Minister, Konda Surekha. Don't use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents. Please respect other people's privacy. As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately.”
After facing criticism, Surekha has retracted her controversial statement saying that she did not intend to hurt Samantha. She said that she admires the actress. She has apologised and said the actress to do not take her statements otherwise.
