Ratan Tata’s next generation has started to enter into different leadership roles. Naville Tata, 32, has recently taken charge as the head of Star Bazar. He began his journey with Tata Group in 2016.

Neville Tata is making headlines in corporate business these days, which is considered to create a major challenge for Mukesh Ambani’s 32-year-old daughter, Isha Ambani, who operates the Reliance retail business.

Who is Neville Tata?

Naville Tata was born in 1992 in Mumbai, India. He married Manasi Kirloskar (Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Motor) on July 18th, 2019. Neville Tata is the grandson of Naval Tata and Simone Tata (founder of Trent, who also started Lakem Beauty Brand of India), who shaped the growth of Tata Group.

Naville Tata is a well-known face in the world of retail. He is the son of Aloo Mistry (mother) and Noel Tata (father), chairman of Trent Limited, and half-brother of Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons. He has two siblings, Leah Tata and Maya Tata.

Neville Tata graduated from the prestigious Bayes Business School in London, England. Recently, he got appointed as trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata and Sir Ratan Tata Trust along with his sisters; this indicates his philanthropic vision, like that of his step-uncle Ratan Tata. He has been associated with Trent Ltd., Tata Group’s retail arm, since 2016. Trent includes famous brands like Zudio, Westside, Star Bazar, Zara, and Massimo Dutti.

Initially, he led the packaged food and beverages division of Trent Limited; then, Neville managed Zudio, which is now India’s largest apparel brand. This shows his ability to create a path of success for Star Bazar.

According to Ken, a news website, the Reliance retail figure is only 15% to 20% of what Trent has achieved.

Four years ago, Zudio had just 80 stores, but now it has grown to nearly 150 locations across 164 cities. Zudio's present company, Trent, has tripled compared to pre-pandemic levels, and net profits have increased by 12 times.

This is the real challenge that Isha Ambani’s retail business can face in the upcoming future.
