On 20th December, Friday, Epigamia co-founder Rohan Mirchandani has tragically passed away. He died of a heart attack at the age of just 41. He was the founder of Epigamia, one of India’s fastest growing Greek yoghurt brands. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is one of the investors in Epigamia.
He had once revealed that he got his business idea while attending a lecture in Mumbai during his business school days. He realized that the FMCG industry lacked innovation and this sparked his decision to start his own start-up.
Who was Rohan Mirchandani?
Rohan Mirchandani was a management graduate. He grew up in New Jersey, USA. He completed his education at NYU Florence, Italy. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Following the completion of MBA from Wharton, Rohan Mirchandani left everything and came back to India in 2013. He then devoted himself completely to his startup in the FMCG space.
Mumbai based Epigamia is an all-natural Greek yogurt brand. It provides more than 21 different types of products to customers. Over the past year, the company has expanded its product portfolio from Greek yoghurt offerings to other products including its lactose-free artisanal curd.
The brand has also entered traditional segments with the Epigamia Mishti Doi, as well as introduced high-protein yoghurt-based drinks, in the form of its Greek yoghurt smoothies. The company has the aim to promote itself as a brand with an Indian DNA but capable of matching the level of global products. Deepika Padukone, Verlinvest, Danone and DSG Consumer Partners are the investors in the company.
