Sanoj Mishra recently grabbed the headlines for inviting Monalisa, a girl who became a net sensation during the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025, to work in his upcoming film. He had declared that he would give her training for his movie, The Diary of 2025.

Sanoj Mishra is a Hindi film director and screenwriter who is noted for his contributions to Hindi movies like Gandhigiri, Ram ki Janambhoomi, and The Diary of West Bengal. Mishra had made a film offer to Monalisa, the internet sensation Kumbh Mela girl.

Sanoj Mishra was in the news recently for offering a role in his film to Monalisa, a girl who became popular after she went viral during the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025. He had announced that he would make her ready for his upcoming movie, The Diary of 2025.

Mishra has been arrested on charges of rape. He was arrested in Ghaziabad and was apprehended by the Nabi Karim police station despite living with his family in Mumbai.

The case is filed based on the complaint of a 28-year-old woman who accused Mishra of raping her repeatedly for four years. The woman further alleged that Mishra compelled her to undergo an abortion on three different occasions. The complainant in her complaint also accused Mishra of going back on his word to marry her.

The victim alleged that on June 18, 2021, Mishra brought her to a resort, gave her a spiked drink, and raped her. She also accused him of taking obscene videos and pictures of her, which he later used to blackmail her into a relationship. According to the victim, Mishra tricked her into coming to Mumbai by offering her a role in a film and marriage and coerced her into a live-in relationship. In this timeframe, she was raped repeatedly and subjected to three forced abortions.

An FIR has been registered on March 6, 2024, under various sections such as rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and threatening. Mishra has been booked for offenses under section 180 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and as per revised laws under sections 63, 65, and 85 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Police managed to collect medical evidence about the suspected abortions from Muzaffarnagar.

The offense that led to the complaint happened on February 18, 2025, when the accused allegedly took the victim to Hotel Shiva at Nabi Karim.

Physical relations with the woman are the accusations against Mishra during the visit before she was left stranded, prompting the woman to register the police complaint.

Also, it is important to highlight that the viral Mela girl, Monalisa Bhosle (16 years), currently has no connection with this present case.

The arrest comes after the Delhi High Court rejected Mishra's bail application, which had earlier heard the case.

With the director now in police custody, legal proceedings are likely to go on in the next few weeks. His arrest, after the Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail, has put the spotlight on the case. The authorities are continuing their probe, and more is expected to happen as legal proceedings go on.
