With Haryana Elections 2024 is round the corner, the political parties of India have started publishing their candidates list and hence many leaders are getting elated while many are left in shock as they are not included in the list. However, what raised everyone's eyebrows when the BJP released its first list of candidates for Haryana Polls 2024 and left India's richest woman Savitri Jindal from it. As a result, on Thursday morning, the country's fourth richest woman Savitri Jindal also announced that she is parting ways with the BJP. After not getting a ticket from the BJP, she has announced to contest the election as an independent from Hisar.
During a press briefing, Savitri Jindal said, "Hisar is my family, and if the people of Hisar wish for me to contest the election, I will run from Hisar according to their wishes. This will also be my last election, and I want to complete any remaining development work for the people."
As per reports, Jindal further said, "I am not a primary member of BJP. I came back from Delhi to speak about not contesting the election, but seeing your love and trust, I will contest the election." Savitri is the mother of famous industrialist and BJP MP from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal. She will contest against BJP minister Dr. Kamal Gupta in Hisar seat.
Not seeing Savitri Jindal's name from Hisar in the list released by BJP on Wednesday, her supporters reached Jindal House on Thursday morning. They raised slogans for Savitri Jindal to contest the election as an independent candidate.
Now, the question arises why did the BJP keep their faith in Dr. Kamal Gupta rather than Savitri Jindal?
For the unversed, Haryana Health Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta has defeated Savitri Jindal in the election. Due to the Jindal family coming two months ago (during Lok Sabha Polls 2024), there was a fear of sending a wrong message to the party by cutting the ticket of the minister associated with the Sangh and the party.
Furthermore, Dr. Kamal Gupta met Manohar Lal Khattar twice amid reports that she may not get the ticket from the BJP. As reported by a Hindi daily, when the final list was prepared on September 2, Savitri Jindal's name was in it. But when Khatter called a meeting at his residence at night, the name was removed and Kamal Gupta's name was added.
Dr. Kamal Gupta also got the benefit of being associated with RSS.
It means India's richest woman Savitri Jindal will have to face 4 parties- the BJP, Congress, INLD, and JJP. However, the main contest will be with the BJP. Dr. Kamal Gupta and Savitri Jindal have faced each other in 2014. Savitri Jindal contested the election from Congress and Kamal Gupta from BJP.
The Jindal family has been contesting elections from Hisar seat since 1991. First of all, late OP Jindal contested the election from Hisar on the ticket of Chaudhary Bansi Lal's Haryana Vikas Party and won the very first election.
