In a tragic development, three UPSC aspirants on Saturday night died after an IAS Coaching Center's basement in Delhi's Old Rajender Nagar was flooded heavily.  The incident took place in the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle. Fire brigade officials received a call about students being stuck in the basement at 7:19 pm on Saturday and five fire engines were dispatched to carry out rescue operations. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also reached the spot. Many students were rescued while the body of three students were recovered from the sight. While the enraged students are protesting against the administration and demanding an FIR against the owner & MCD, three students who died in the incident have been identified. 

Who are the deceased students in Rau’s IAS Study Circle flooding case?

As per reports, the three students have been identified as Tania Soni (25), Shreya Yadav (25), and Nevin Dalwin (28). Shreya Yadav was from Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni was from Telangana,  and Navin Dalwin was from Kerala's Ernakulam.

Talking about the deceased Shreya Yadav, as soon as the news of her death reached her home, there was mourning in Barsawan Hashimpur village. Shreya's relatives were seeing her as a future IAS, but now their dream has been shattered forever. After Shreya's death, her uncle Dharmendra Yadav was quoted by a news wire that when he was watching TV last night, he came to know about the news of the institute in Rajendra Nagar.

Shreya Yadav's uncle Dharmendra Yadav reached Rajendra Nagar after seeing the news of 'Rau Coaching' on TV, where after inquiring in the hostel and coaching, he could not find anything about his niece. After that, an officer on the spot told him that a student named Shreya Yadav had been taken to RML hospital and had died.

Photos of Shreya Yadav and Navin Dalwin have surfaced on social media and students are demanding justice for them. Tania Soni's pic is yet to be released. 

Rau’s IAS Study Circle flooding case developments

The owner and the coordinator of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar were arrested on Sunday after the massive outrage. Abhishek Gupta, the owner, and Deshpal Singh, the coordinator, have been booked under charges of culpable homicide and negligence.

Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harsha Vardhan was quoted saying, "We have registered an FIR at Rajinder Nagar Police Station under sections 105 (culpable homicide), 106(1) (death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide), 115(2) (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 290 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down, repairing or constructing buildings) and 35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. So far we have detained two people -- owner and coordinator of the coaching centre."
