Bangladesh Fan Tiger Robi: India vs Bangladesh second test went underway at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Friday. Although INDvsBAN 2nd Test was curtailed due to bad light and rains, Bangladeshi Super Fan Tiger Robi took the internet by storm after bizarre visuals surfaced from the scenes. Initial reports suggested that Bangladeshi fan Tiger Roby was rushed to the hospital after allegedly being assaulted by spectators. The incident occurred during the second Test between India and Bangladesh, where Tiger Roby claimed to have been struck on his back and lower abdomen. A few social media users including cricket analyst named @JohnyBravo183 alleged that Tiger Robby was chanting anti-India slogans. Hence, fans in Kanpur assaulted him.
However, the Police denied the reports and claims that Tiger Robi was assaulted by Indian fans. As per a report that quoted Kanpur Police officials, Tiger Robi's health deteriorated on Friday morning, leading to his admission to a hospital due to dehydration. The super fan reportedly alleged he was beaten by some locals at the venue, but police denied the claims. He has been travelling with the Bangladesh cricket team during their tour of India and also attended the Test in Chennai.
Who is Tiger Robi?
Tiger Robi reportedly hails from Dhaka and he accompanies the Bangladesh Cricket Team wherever they play. Tiger Robi is not his real name. He is named Tiger Robi as he paints himself as a Tiger and waves the Bangladeshi flag during cricket matches.
Tiger Robi while talking to a news portal said, "A section of the crowd has been abusing me since the morning. Once lunch was called I just started shouting the names of Najmul Shanto and Mominul Haque. Few of them started shoving me around, tried to tear my mascot (Tiger) and my flag, and when I resisted they started hitting me."
However, a Police official was quoted saying, "He collapsed due to dehydration. Police and the medical staff rushed to help him immediately and was taken to the hospital. He is now feeling better. The speculation about the assault is completely wrong. He was not hit by any fan."
