Who is Zareena Grewal?
Zareena Grewal is a Yale Associate Professor of American Studies, Ethnicity, Race, & Migration, and Religious Studies. When Hamas was brutally killing Israelis and tourists during their invasion, Zareena reportedly took to her official X handle and wrote, "My heart is in my throat. Prayers for Palestinians. Israeli [sic] is a murderous, genocidal settler state and Palestinians have every right to resist through armed struggle, solidarity. #FreePalestine"
Thereafter, on October 10th, 2023, Zareena wrote, "No government on earth is as genocidal as this settler colonial state" (In response to a tweet from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu).
As a result, a Yale University Student has started a petition to sack Zareena from the prestigious University. A Yale student named Netanel Crispe in his long petition wrote, "We demand that Yale University immediately terminate the employment of Zareena Grewal. She has unequivocally proven that she has no right being in her current role or in the field of education if she considers war crimes against civilians to be acts of resistance. Please share this message that anyone with any moral compass will not stand for such blatant hatred and promotion of violence from a professor at one of the world’s top academic institutions."
Netanel Crispe belongs to Yale Class 2025. He further pointed out, "Condoning violence, advocating for a terrorist organization, and historical revisionism and inaccuracies are all ideas that run contrary to the values of Yale University."
It is worth mentioning that a total of 4,170 people have signed up for Netanel's petition asking for Zareena's termination. Notably, former adult movie actress Mia Khalifa was recently fired by Playboy for her support of Hamas. Not only this, but Mia was also fired by podcaster who was in talks with her over a podcast deal.
