Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik Sheds Light on Ludhiana's Prevailing Punjab Predicament!

Reason behind the Rise in Vegetable prices:

The downpour has not only caused flood in the North India damaging the farms but has also caused landslides, leading to blocking of roads. This has affected the transportation of vegetables and fruits from Himachal Pradesh.

“I had cultivated tomato, beans, capsicum and cauliflower across 10 acres, and within a blink of an eye the field had gone underwater. The entire Sirmour district is facing it. If the rain stops in a couple of days, 10% of the produce could be recovered. Otherwise, all of it will be damaged, and the next crop will take about three months to hit the market." said Anil Thakur, a farmer based in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

North India has been greatly affected by the flood as the vegetable prices have risen up to 3 times the original prices. This rise in prices has had a significant impact on people, increasing the financial challenges.
