A Delhi Court on Wednesday summoned YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case filed by BJP leader Suresh Nakhua. Dhruv Rathee who is a staunch critic of the Modi Government has been sued by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Mumbai unit spokesperson Suresh Nakhua for referring to him as a part of 'violent and abusive trolls'. In his civil defamation suit, BJP's Suresh Nakhua has sought a permanent injunction against Dhruv Rathee and restraining him from posting, tweeting, publishing, creating, or sharing any derogatory and harmful material on any online/offline platform regarding him or the BJP. Not only this, Nalhua has sought compensation of Rs 20,00,000 from Dhruv Rathee for defaming him.  Now, the question arises what did Dhruv Rathee say against Suresh Nakhua, and how Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant Elvish Yadav is connected to it? What did Dhruv Rathee say against Suresh Nakhua?

Dhruv Rathee posted a video on his official YouTube channel on July 7 uploaded a video titled “My Reply to Godi Youtubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee. Although the video was a response to YouTuber Elvish Yadav's multiple accusations, Rathee went on to highlight the social media accounts PM Modi used to follow on social media in the past. Rathee was highlighting PM Modi's social media following list to counter Elvish Yadav's accusations that he is friends with a social media user who penned vile & abusive comments on social media. Elvish had also outlined Dhruv Rathee's link with a particular political party. 

Hence, in response, Dhruv Rathee came down heavily on Elvis Yadav in his video and started to outline how PM Modi used to follow 'violent and abusive trolls'. True Scoop News tried to cross-check Dhruv Rathee's controversial video and it found out that the YouTuber indeed took the name of BJP's Mumbai Unit Spokesperson Suresh Nakhua. At 6:15 minutes of the video, Druv Rathee can be heard saying, "PM Modi was following social media handles of  'violent and abusive trolls' like Avnish Choubey, Ankit Jain, Suresh Nakhua & Tajinder Bagga." This particular statement by Rathee has sent him into legal trouble. 

What did Delhi Court say summoning Dhruv Rathee?

Summoning Dhruv Rathee, the Delhi Court's district judge Gunjan Gupta reportedly said, "Issue summons of the suit and notice of the application u/o 39 Rule 1 and 2 CPC to the defendants, subject to steps by all modes i.e. PF & RC/Speed Post/ Approved Courier including electronic mode for 06.08.2024." 

BJP's Nakhua in his suit filed against Rathee, Google LLC, and X Corp (formerly known as Twitter) submitted that the YouTuber had on July 7 uploaded a video he referred him as a part of violent and abusive trolls for “no rhyme or reason” in order to bring down his reputation.

The suit reportedly reads, "Through this cunningly crafted video, a deliberate campaign to besmirch the Plaintiff’s integrity and reputation is apparent, as baseless accusations and malicious connections are artfully insinuated." He further said that the defamatory statements made by Rathee has severely damaged his reputation causing irreparable harm to his personal and professional life.
