On the day when Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was trying his level best to woo industry honchos at the 5th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2023, promising investors a hassle-free experience, Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh's supporter attacked Ajnala Police Station. Both scenarios sound contrasting and ironic but this is what the state of Punjab witnessed on Thursday. It was utter chaos in Amritsar's Ajnala when Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh announced to hold a protest outside the Police station which had arrested his close aide Lovepreet Toofan. Although Amritpal Singh asked his followers to hold a peaceful protest, his supporters openly flouted his 'public address' by attacking Ajnala Police Station and injuring 6 police personnel including an SP. Now, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Punjab Minister KS Dhaliwal has sensed that forces like Waris Punjab De want to disrupt Punjab's development and questioned the date of the protest and Punjab Investors’ Summit.

Talking to a prominent newswire, KS Dhaliwal expressed his views on radical group 'Waris Punjab Ke' threatening law and order situation in the state and said, "The 'Invest Punjab' event was being held today. Why did this incident take place today only? The forces which want to disrupt Punjab's development are doing such things"

Amritpal Singh and Ajnala Protest

Ajnala: 6 policemen injured after Amritpal Singh's supporter storm Police station with swords & guns

After whole day of chaos and violence, the Punjab Police on Thursday said it would release Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh's close aide Lovepreet Toofan on Friday. The police cleared off the protesters from the Ajnala police station premises after they were assured of Lovepreet Toofan's release. According to reports, the protesters were sent to a nearby gurdwara. In a statement, Satinder Singh, SSP Amritsar Dehat said Toofan Singh's supporters have provided evidence supporting Singh's absence from the violence-hit area on February 15, on the basis of which, he would be discharged by the court tomorrow. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh and his supporters have said they would end their agitation once Toofan Singh steps out of the jail.

For the unversed, Amritpal Singh has demanded the cancellation of the FIR which has been filed against him and his group members. "If they don't cancel the case in one hour, the admin will be responsible for whatever happens next...they think we can't do anything, so this show of strength was necessary," he told the media.
