While Team India is currently in Sri Lanka to take part in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, BJP MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir is also in the Island nation for his commentary duty. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently was embroiled in a major controversy after his video went viral on social media and earned a lot of flak for flashing a middle finger to the crowd allegedly chanting 'Kohli Kohli'. Gautam Gambhir video on Monday became the topic of discussion with Virat Kohli fans going all out against him and slamming the former cricketer for his indecent gesture towards the crowds. In Gautam Gambhir Asia Cup 2023 video, the former cricketer was being escorted by an official outside the stadium when the fans were heard chanting 'Kohli Kohli'. Following that the BJP MP lost his calm and flashed his middle finger towards the crowd. After Gautam Gambhir middle finger video went viral on social media, the former cricketer had to break his silence as questions were raised about his ethics as a cricket expert.
Gautam Gambhir took to his Twitter handle and expressed that all shown on social media is not true hinting that his outburst was not aimed at 'Kohli Kohli' chants. "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes”. Not everything is as it seems. Any Indian would react how I did to the kind of slogans used against our nation. I love our players & I love my country." Again, Gautam Gambhir broke his silence over the Asia Cup middle finger controversy and stated that some Pakistani fans were hurling anti-India slogans and whatever he did it was supposed to happen.
"What is shown on social media has no truth in it because people show whatever they want to show. The truth about the video that went viral is that if you raise anti-India slogans and speak about Kashmir then the person before you will obviously react and not smile and leave. There were 2-3 Pakistanis there who were speaking anti-India things and things on Kashmir. So, it was my natural reaction. I can't hear anything against my country. So, that was my reaction..." said Gautam Gambhir.

It is pertinent to mention here that footage was shared on social media which totally denied the 'Kohli Kohli' theory and Pakistani fans were heard screaming anti-India slogans.

Gautam Gambhir vs Virat Kohli
It is pertinent to mention here that True Scoop News cannot verify either of the videos. However, Gautam Gambhir might be uttering the truth as the former cricketer has at many times advocated for Team India players on global forums. For instance, during India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023, Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was breathing fire, and a British commentator stated that he might be the best fast bowler with the new ball. Interrupting him, Gambhir put forward Jasprit Bumrah's name and corrected him that Shaheen Shah is among the best fast bowlers and Bumrah is also among those.
However, it is not hidden that Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were involved in an ugly heated exchange during IPL 2023. Following that there were multiple videos emerged on social media showing that fans chanted Kohli's name wherever Gambhir used to go as a gesture to mock him.
