Over 3.07 lakh students appeared in the exam of which 3.02 lakh passed. Overall, 98.25 percent have passed the exam. This is a slight drop from last year when 99.88 percent of students had cleared exams.
As many as 9 students have topped exams with 100% marks. Over 51 district students make it to the merit list, most belong to Pvt schools. This time no one from Ludhiana bagged the top three positions.

"Absenteeism of teachers in these schools is very high. Even though they are paid a much higher salary than the teachers in private schools, they cheat the government and fail to discharge their duties as teachers. And sadly, no action is being taken to prevent this."

As result school boards are always decided by the teacher unions and fail to represent children's interests."
Rashima Khanna, a School psychologist says "In many middle schools and high schools, students face intense pressure to study hard. Students view studying as work and they naturally become victims of the good and bad grades model of education. Few teachers are prepared to challenge the adolescent culture."
