Indian Air Force(IAF) has written a letter to Dharma Production, Netflix and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) stated certain scenes and dialogues in the movie and trailer, which were forwarded to it for viewing, were found to “portray the IAF in an unsuitable negative light”.
The movie is streaming on Netflix. It is based on the life of IAF officer Gunjan Saxena who became the first woman pilot to take part in the 1999 Kargil war. It has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. "The IAF has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objecting to certain scenes in the movie Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl wherein it has been portrayed in undue negative light," the official said.
The defence ministry had urged that production houses may be advised to obtain a no-objection certificate from the ministry before telecasting any film, documentary or web series on an Army theme. The ministry also stated that even after writing a letter to Dharma Production to cut out some objectionable scenes, they just added a disclaimer at the start of the movie.

he Air Force stated that it feels that a mere media plan and disclaimer would not be adequate to prevent the presentation of incorrect facts about the IAF. “In view of the above, the issue of grant of NOC for the release of the movie will be considered after deleting or suitably modifying the scenes in order to cater to the observations mentioned,” the Air Force said.
