Maisa Abd Elhadi's arrest reason
Maisa Abd Elhadi, who lives in the northern Israeli city of Nazareth - was arrested on Monday and placed in custody until Thursday. At first, Israeli Police did not reveal the actress' name saying, "an actress and network influencer, resident of the city of Nazareth, on suspicion of expressions of praise [for terror] and hate speech".
The Israeli Police in its statement further said, "The police fight against incitement and support for terrorism continues all the time." For those wondering what Maisa Abd Elhadi's post said, the actress reportedly shared images of Yaffa Adar, 85, being taken hostage by Hamas with laughing emojis.
For the unversed, Yaffa Adar was among the more than 200 hostages taken by Hamas on 7th October following the brutal terror attack across southern Israel. Not only this, but Maisa Abd Elhadi shared one more image of Hamas terrorists breaching Israel’s security barrier with the caption "Let’s go, Berlin style," referring to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
Maisa Abd Elhadi's Hamas support post received massive backlash on social media and later it came under the scanner of Israeli Police. Reacting to the incident a user wrote, "Israel gave her everything — opportunities, support, name & fame. She worked in several Israeli TV shows & movies. She also worked in a Hollywood film. But, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel & killed 1000s of people, she celebrated it & posted story on Instagram - "Photos of Hamas terrorists infiltrating Israel & with the caption Let's go Berlin style" to support & encourage Hamas terror acts."
Another user wrote, "Palestinian actress Maisa Abd Elhadi has been jailed in Nazareth “on suspicion of hate speech” for her posts on social media. Israeli police requested and were granted an extended period of detainment before trial because of the ongoing conflict."
One more user wrote, "Maisa expressed support for the slaughters of Jews, of our infants, the burning of people alive, rape, murder, and the abduction of Jewish women, she posted stories encouraging Hamas’s actions, “LETS DO IT BERLIN STYLE!"
