Punjabi singer & actor Diljit Dosanjh often grabs headlines for all the right reasons. Diljit Dosanjh is undoubtedly one of the most followed and successful artists who has emerged from the Punjabi entertainment industry. Diljit Dosanjh's catchphrase 'Panjabi Aagye Oyee' has become famous as the singer uses it in every national or international concert. Not only this, but Diljit also uses this tagline in his social media posts. Now, Diljit Dosanjh was recently asked why he never calls himself an Indian but instead, he uses such catch phrase on international forums. Diljit recently appeared at Raj Shamani's Podcast where he spilled the beans on multiple aspects of his life.
Why does Diljit Dosanjh not call himself Indian?
Responding to the query Diljit Dosanjh said, "You asked a very relevant question. The place (Punjab) is very small in entire India. There is a feeling when you come from a small place. This soil is from Punjab. Obviously, I will take the name of the soil. I have also seen such comments that you don't call yourself Indian. I wanna say Punjab is part of India. The thing is India is too big and many artists are already representing the nation. But we come from a very small place. That is a feel if a person from a small place comes at a big stage. If you are in Punjab, then you take the name of your village, when you are in the village you introduce yourself from your family line."
It is pertinent to mention here that during the farmer's protest, Diljit and Kangana indulged in a war of words over the Khalistan issue. In 2021, Kangana said that she challenged him (Diljit) to prove that he is 'not a Khalistani' but he didn’t respond. While talking to an electronic media portal, Kangana said, "I openly challenged him to say just once that you are not a Khalistani, he didn’t say it. Youth have been misled, they have been presented with a dream about Khalistan." Ever since then, Diljit often remains under the scanner of social media.
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh's secret marriage rumors have intensified after Ammy Virk opened up on why the Chamkila actor has kept it under wraps. "You cannot stop anyone. If we look at Diljit Pajji’s point of view, it is his private matter. It is his family. There must be a reason that he isn’t introducing them to the world. I also have a wife and a daughter. Even I do not want them to come out in public. They also do not want it. For now, they can roam around anywhere and nobody knows they are my Ammy’s family or Diljit’s family. If people know, they (families) will be troubled," said Ammy Virk.
