Why was Gigi Hadid arrested?
As per reports, Gigi Hadid was caught after her luggage was scanned by officers upon arrival at the airport on July 10. After the scan, the authorities found out that Gigi was carrying marijuana and “utensils used for the consumption of ganja.” After Gigi Hadid was caught with 'Ganja', she was arrested and sent to the Prisoner Detention Center. Post Gigi Hadid's arrest she was processed and was later released on bail. As per US media reports, both Gigi and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy pleaded guilty after appearing in court on July 12. They were fined $1,000, and managed to avoid a recorded conviction.
Gigi Hadid's representative was quoted by a US media portal who informed, "Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license...It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."

A US media portal stated that the weed was not discovered in Gigi's personal bag but in her fellow travellers’ bags. However, since the plane was booked under her name, she was also held accountable. Another US media hinted that the officials sought a bribe from Gigi but the supermodel refused and chose to go through a legal process instead. On the other hand, Cayman Island cops refuted the allegations and an officer was quoted saying, “Our officers categorically deny the bribery-related allegation which has been made against them by Ms. Hadid."
