The Board of Control for Cricket in India has put forward the nine venues to finalize the stadium for the T20 World Cup, which is slated to be held in India in October-November.
As per the reports, the BCCI might consider the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the T20 World Cup this year. The nine venues are- Mumbai. New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.
Notably, this year BCCI has added four new venues to the list i.e. Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chennai, and Hyderabad as these places had not hosted any matches in the 2016 T20 World Cup held in India.
The final of T20 World Cup 2021 will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, said sources.
While talking to media, an official source said, "The nine venues have been informed and it was again discussed that preparations should continue for the showpiece event with an eye on the Covid-19 situation and a call will only be taken closer to the event. It is too early to imagine what can or will happen in October-November with regards to the coronavirus situation. But preparations shall be on."
The source further confirmed that all players participating in T20 World Cup will get visas without hassle.

The apex cricket body is also ready with the Plan B to table before ICC in case of Covid-19 situation does not subdue till hosting of the final T20 World Cup which includes keeping the venues to not more than four. Moreover, the ICC considers the lesser venues to be cost-effective amidst the pandemic situation as teams might not like constant travel before matches.
Pertinently, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Sri Lanka have also been kept at the back seat and low-key preparations are being done there to organize the cricket tournament.
BCCI is confident to hold the T20 World Cup later this year in India as by then a vast majority of the population would be inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine.
